Locally Grown Tulips, Medium Arrangement

$65.00
Sold Out

Specialty winter-grown tulips designed in a glass vase with a reusable kenzan/flower frog. Color is growers choice, but always seasonally appropriate.

These tulips are not your average tulips. Grown in small batches indoors, these tulips are prepped and cared for throughout the autumn season to ensure proper growth by winter.

Fun fact: To grow winter-blooming tulips locally in Columbus, Ohio, each variety must be pre-chilled for a specific number of weeks to mimic the winter season . Once this “cold stratification” is reached the bulbs need to put on root growth and the foliage needs to begin growing as well. At this point they are brought to a warmer location under light. We grow winter tulips in crates so they can be moved easily.

To ensure your flowers last as long as possible, give them just a couple inches of clean water. Keep the leaves out of the water and keep the water clean. It’s also best if they’re out of direct sunlight. Note that tulips can keep growing after they’re cut. If you feel they’re getting too long for the vase, you can cut the stems at any time to your desired length.
